OTHER MUSEUM ILLUSTRATIONS

I also had the opportunity to participate in the creation of  images for museum exhibits, from large-scale murals, to smaller illustrations for information panels.

Dodo Mural

This mural was created in collaboration with paleoartist Julius Csotonyi for the travelling exhibit "Exploring Extinction: The Dodo" by Silver Plume Exhibitions. It depicts the now extinct dodo bird in its natural environment on the island of Mauritius just before Dutch sailors first set foot on the island in 1598. The following decades saw the bird hunted by sailors and invasive species, while its habitat was destroyed, leading to the dodo's extinction before the end of the 17th century.

The mural was created with input from experts on the dodo and on botanical species of Mauritius island to ensure scientific accuracy.

“Dinosaurs Take Flight: The Art of Archaeopteryx”

This other mural representing a beach scene with the avian feathered dinosaur Archaeopteryx on the ground and in flight was created in collaboration with paleoartist Julius Csotonyi for the traveling exhibit "Dinosaurs Take Flight" organized by Silver Plume Exhibitions and the Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History. The exhibit combines original artwork with fossils, replica skeletons, and interactive medias and activities to tell the story of the evolution of flight.

This depiction of a late Cretaceous Taxodium - dominated swamp was created in 2012 for the Royal Ontario museum in collaboration with paeloartist Julius Csotonyi using a combination of photographic compositing and digital painting to reconstruct now-extinct trees and plants species.

Illustrations of Prehistoric Plants

These scientifically-accurate illustrations of prehistoric plants were created in 2013 for the Shanghai Natural History Museum with input from paleobotanical experts.
